That is pretty much all I have to say. As many of you know, I have found some friends in my Stake that I enjoy playing volleyball with. A lot of them played for High School and College, and are pretty awesome. Needless to say, they have been patient with me and I have learned a lot. Mostly it is a lot of fun. Anyway, we don't really play much during the summer with every one's schedules being crazy, and no kids being in school. Today was the first day that I've really played since being "big" and pregnant. We haven't played for about 10 weeks. Let me tell you those ten weeks have made a difference. So when we quit I was about 20 weeks pregnant. I don't know how regular we will be playing now (school doesn't begin until the 20th of Aug.) but I am feeling it. My groin area and underbelly took the biggest hit. they haven't been stretched that much since we stopped for the summer. My squatting ability has diminished and of course I am slower than a snail out there. But, they still don't mind me playing. I won't be diving any time soon, but it was nice to see that my serves still made it over the net. I wasn't as bad as I had expected, but man am I sore. I don't expect I'll feel much better tomorrow, but at least I got some exercise today!

Well, we had a pretty fun weekend. It was our ward camp out. We didn't have far to go, just 11 miles up Payson Canyon. Because of all the recent wildfires, we couldn't have any campfires, which was kind of a bummer. Vi wanted Smores! We had a potluck dinner and then we were off searching for a place to pitch out tent. We have had a lot of recent rain, so the ground was wet, but not too muddy. It took a while to get our tent up with all the extra "help" from the kids.
We had a good time visiting with ward members, and there were a lot of kids for Violet and Ashton to play with. We lucked out and didn't have any rain or bugs. I don't think any of us ended up with a single bite! The rangers came through a couple of times to talk to us all about the recent bear issues. Over population of bears this summer. We opted not to bring our air mattress since it was just for over night. I wasn't as uncomfortable as I expected.
There was a full moon so the night was pretty bright. It didn't get as cold as we had expected either. The weather was perfect! On Saturday we had a yummy breakfast provided by the bishopbric. I was surprised that morning at how few ward members had actually spent the night. A lot had driven up for dinner and drove home to sleep. It was a lot quieter in the morning but a lot of fun. We weren't in too big of a hurry to get home, so we went for a hike/walk. Violet encountered her first poison ivy. She just got a bit on her hand. It was treated with a benedryl stick and is completely gone today. Not as bad as it could have been.
Our kids were sad to leave, but I'm sure they felt much better after they got cleaned up. They were filthy! I think that is their favorite part of camping! It was beautiful, we had a lot of fun.

Well, we have had a pretty busy last couple of days. Friday night we had dinner and played games with some of our friends in Orem. We always have a blast. We sent the husbands out at like 1:30am to buy Harry Potter. We were playing Settlers of Catan. It is a really fun game if you have never played.
Sunday night Darin got on his work site to check something and we found out that not only did he have the 24th off, but we had apparently taken the 23rd off as well. Hooray for us. An extra day with Darin! We pretty much got ready for our trip and drove to Beaver.
Every 24th of July we try to make it to Beaver for the festivities. It is our family reunion for my Dad's family. We go to the parade and then have a nice lunch at my Grandparent's home. Later there are fireworks that can be seen from either their front lawn or back yard. My aunt and her kids and grand kids are usually there too. This year we were only missing my brother and his wife. There are always new kids or in this years case a fiance' to meet. The great grand kids always have a lot of fun playing together.
We didn't stay fort eh fireworks since Darin had to be back to work today. I don't think the kids knew what they were missing. This year was pretty much the first in history that it rained. Instead of being 150 degrees, it was overcast and rained during the parade. What a change! Violet got to ride on a Primary float this year with her cousin's Jonathan and Sarah. She had a lot of fun getting to wave at everyone and hold a flag! I'll post pictures when I get them up.
overall we had a good time visiting with everyone. My parents and grandparents mostly. Ashton got car sick on the way down, which was not fun. Other than that it was an uneventful trip. My parent's will be staying here tonight and heading to Menan tomorrow.
I got a cute baby hat that I won at the service auction in my mom's ward. She brought it out with her. It looks like a strawberry. It will be perfect for the baby this winter.
Welcome home to Darin's nephew Christopher who recently returned from his mission to the Philippines. Can't wait to see you when you are back here for BYU!
Happy Anniversary to Matt & Jenny.
and a big Congrats to my cousin Tina who found out they are expecting a baby boy (to be named Stephen Matthew) on the 31st of October. Hope everyone has a great day!

So this morning I went in to get him and there was no barf, yay, but her had apparently gotten a bloody nose during the night. His face was caked with the dried stuff. This was a first to have happen at night. It has been really dry lately, and maybe he had a finger up it during his sleep? Who knows.
Our next fun adventure was going grocery shopping this morning. Not usually too big of a deal. I turned around to grab some milk out of the refrigerated area and Vi starts screaming. Ashton had reached behind him and grabbed the carton of eggs and dumped the whole thing over. Of course Vi was in the back of the cart and got egg all over her legs. Luckily nothing else got ruined. I had fabric and a shirt in the cart that didn't get slimed. So, I got to find an employee to help with the mess, get new eggs, and finish my shopping. Life with children is never dull.
I bought a package of newborn diapers for the baby. Look, I'm getting prepared! Oh and Congratulations to my cousin Jennie who is engaged!

We had fun on Friday night. Darin & I got to go out and see the newest Harry Potter movie. We enjoyed it. It was the first time in a while we had been out together, without the kids. Unfortunately the rest of the weekend and beginning of this week has been spent cleaning up puke. Violet and Ashton were both up Saturday night/Sunday morning. Violet was better quickly but as of today, Ashton still can't keep much of anything down. I have been stuck in the basement holding him on my lap while he watches cartoons.
I will definitely be needing to clean my carpets once he is better! I've done about a zillion loads of laundry from all the blankets and clothes that have been nailed. He got both of my maternity dresses on Sunday, and I didn't even go to church! I've been able to get some reading in and just finished Harry Potter and the half blood prince. I'm preparing for the upcoming release this week.
I had better get going and finish laundry while Ashton is sleeping. Poor violet has felt neglected....Hopefully they get better soon.

I had a lot of fun taking this quiz. It is a little hard to answer some of the questions about ones self, but apparently I am most like Lizzy. Here is what it had to say:
You are Elizabeth Bennett of Pride & Prejudice! You are intelligent, witty, and tremendously attractive. You have a good head on your shoulders, and oftentimes find yourself the lone beacon of reason in a sea of silliness. You take great pleasure in many things. You are proficient in nearly all of them, though you will never own it. Lest you seem too perfect, you have a tendency toward prejudgement that serves you very ill indeed.
I believe I've taken the quiz before and had completely different results, so I suppose that will depend on your mood/outlook while taking the quiz.
On another note I thought I would share something rather funny that happened yesterday. I asked Violet to come upstairs for something. She replied by saying,"I'm watching this cooking show and I don't want to miss it." KBYU has cartoons she watches some mornings, since it was lunch time there was a cooking show on and she was hooked. I asked her what they were making and all she said was,"Something yummy." Maybe it isn't funny to anyone else but me, but a four year old engrossed in a cooking show! I find that comical!

Nothing truly exciting happened. We had a busy morning of Dr. Appointments and then went to Neilsen's Grove Park in Orem with some friends. There is a reflecting pool and a water fountain that the kids can play in. The reflecting pool is really shallow, so it is good for the littler kids. We had a good time and the kids got to play out side and the best part about the park is that it is free! We had more errands to run and then made it home about 1pm. It was super hot by then.
The highlight of my day was an email that I received. I belong to a support group here in Utah called Hearts of Hope. We are basically a bunch of parents who have kids with different congenital heart defects. One of the moms wrote me and said that they had been at the Emergency Room that day for a broken arm. While they were waiting they were reading book that the hospital had, and low and behold, they were books from the book drive we did this spring. It felt good to know that the books have been put to good use and that people notice that we donated them in Elaine's memory. This family never knew Elaine, but were aware of the book drive and know us. It's always nice to know she hasn't been forgotten. We miss you Elaine!

I am finally getting around to reporting on our recent trip to California. Lets see, we chose to drive through the night so that the kids would sleep most of the way and we would have to try and keep them entertained. Ashton doesn't sleep in cars unless it is dark, so it makes it a little difficult to travel during the day. Anyway, once we got there, the kids had a lot of fun with their grandparents and their Aunt Renee and Uncle Josh who came over to see them.
Once everyone was through at the beach, we loaded up in the van and set of for Armstrong Grove. The redwood forest is another must on a trip back home. The trees are so tall and awe inspiring. Even on a hot day, the woods are cool because they are almost completely shaded. We didn't stay here too long because the kids were tired, but we walked along one of the paths for about an hour. Here are some pictures from there.
The kids had a fun time exploring and finding big sticks. They took a couple home to grandma and grandpas as souvenirs. They didn't last long.

How was eveyones Fourth of July? Ours was hot! I don't know when our last day was that wasn't in the 100's. I guess I chose the wrong summer to be pregnant! Unfortunately our nights don't cool off much. We got spoiled while we were in Sonoma County because the weather was great!
For the most part, we just spent the day together as a family. It was great to have Darin home from work on a non- weekend day. We had some catching up to do with yard work and such that we tried to accomplish in the morning. Later in the afternoon we filled a swimming pool with water for the kids. They want to play in the water everyday, all day long. They are both getting pretty tan. Darin and I painted a changing table while the kiddos swam. I think the paint job looks nice and the table is now in Ashton's room.
In the heat of the evening we went to Provo to the MTC lawn to watch the fireworks from the Stadium of Fire. This has become somewhat of a tradition since it is the third year we have done it. It was hot (of course) while we waited, but we had a nice dinner of BBQ hot dogs, Macaroni salad, fruit, chips etc. We were with our friends the Drake's and the Andelin's. The kids had fun playing and goofing off. We adults talked and tried to endure the heat.
The kids got cotton candy and did sparklers. The fireworks were good. Ashton didn't like the noise, put enjoyed the colors. The fireworks didn't seem to last as long this year, as in the past, but it was still beautiful. It takes forever to get home afterwards (an hour to hour and a half, instead of the 20 min. it usually takes), but the kids both slept in the car. Darin had a hard time waking up for work the next morning, but we had a good time. The only bummer for the day was that the scouts forgot to put up our flag so I felt very unpatriotic all day. Hopefully next holiday we wont get missed.
Next year it looks like we will be in Idaho for the fourth since there will be and Olsen family reunion on the 5th of July at Heise Hot Springs. My Aunt Sharon is in charge for 2008 and she likes to travel to ID for the 4th. We will have to break with tradition, but it will be nice to be with family.
Sharon and her kids were out this year and we got to visit with them for a number of hours. The kids are all growing up and getting big. Ashton and Vi had fun with their cousins. My parents were also in town for a couple of days on their way back to California. I feel like I have a ton of things , housework, projects etc. to get done before the baby comes. In case anyone is interested, we have chosen a name for this little one. I think I'll save all that for another post since this one has become quite lengthy. Thanks for reading!
