Egg Cellent!!

I have mastered the art of cracking an egg, into a bowl, with one hand. It did not take too long ("it's all in the wrist"...if you can name that movie I will do a special post on you!) to perfect, but it is a fun little trick to know. Yes, I did do it imperfectly and create a mess (shock! I know!) a dozen one or two times. But now I've got it, and I thought I'd share. Wahoo for me!

The things we learn

I learned (the hard way) that if the turn signal in my van is left on while you are driving, after an unknown amount of time (possible 3-5minutes) the van starts beeping and blaring. It is very frightening when this occurs. Deann and I about had heart attacks! I wish I would have known about this feature sooner so I would have known why my van was acting possessed.

Come back Moonlight!

I was saddened to read that the CBS series Moonlight will not be returning for a second season. That is one of the shows I was truly looking forward to. It was cleaver and original. I loved the vampire stuff last fall (this was before I even read any Twilight books!). What is wrong with CBS? It was a great show! I am going to go and cry now.

Welcome to the world, Trevor!

Brynn and Chad had their darling baby boy yesterday. They named him Trevor LaVon. I think it is a darling name! I know where the LaVon comes from, but not the Trevor. He was born 9/20/08 and was 8lbs 2oz and 19 inches. Mom and baby boy are doing well. We are going to visit tonight. Good job you two! We love you guys!

Potty Talk

Ashton and Violet are taking a bath. Darin walks in the room and hears:

Ashton: You can only do it if you have a penis.

Darin: Ashton! What can you do if you have a penis?

Ashton: Make a fountain.

Violet: I can make a fountain too!

I'm guessing that the bath water had a nice yellow tinge.

My Fifth Baby

Don't get excited people, I am not expecting. I am in no way shape or form pregnant again. I am referring to another "baby". The Olympic Gold Medal Mile fun run/walk for Intermountain Healing Hearts. It was my little project that took up about as much time (more some days) as another baby. That is also how much love I had for the endeavor. I am glad it is over and things went well.

I think that anyone who has tried to get donations for any cause, knows a little bit of what I went through. The calling and calling and calling. You get the run around, a lot! Sometimes it would take me days (or weeks) to get a negative answer. AGHHH!! In the end, we had some very nice prizes to give away. Thank you to everyone who assisted int his project, and to the people and companies who donated! You made a difference!!

It was a lot of fun to see a few companies (Will's Pit Stop in particular) who really got involved and gave it their all. They provided ALL of the water for the race. A huge expense that IHH did not have to purchase!! Plus, the owners came and participated in the race. I hope they were able to meet many members of our group and their precious kiddos. And then, to top it off, they donated even more to the group. Amazing people. Huge hearts! We are filled with gratitude for the generosity you have shown to strangers who contacted you through a seemingly random phone call. Who knows, maybe there was a little more to it?

Jennylin did an amazing job on the shirts. They look so fabulous! Everyone loves them. I enjoy wearing one around and having people ask what the group is about and everything. It feels good to have others interested in something I am passionate about.

It was fun to see people ready and raring to go at 8am. We had about 100 people register same day, and 200 pre register! What an amazing turnout for the first year. I must say that I learned a TON!!!! It was a lot of work, but so worth it to see so many people together to support Congenital Heart Defects. It was also a great opportunity to meet many of our members, and for people to visit. Putting names and faces together is always a plus.

Things would not have turned out as well as they had, without the help from everyone else. You know who you are! You rock!!! Thank you for taking on this responsibility and making it a success.

Yes there were problems, even a caffaful (sp?) or two. But nothing catastrophic. I am pleased with the turnout and the event as a whole. It sure is gratifying to make a difference and promote awareness in the world. OK, maybe not the world yet, but at least in our community. What a rewarding experience. Thank you all!

Scary Poppins

We had another amazing evening at Desert Star. It is just our fav! I think that this was the best one we have seen so far this year! We laughed and laughed! they used a lot of tunes from Mary Poppins and Chitty chitty bang bang. I also enjoyed the song to the tune of "hey Mikey you're so fine..." Good Stuff! We ate at Ruby River which was YUMMY! We were kind of celebrating Darin's promotion. Here are some of the great one liners from the show.

Sputnik on a stick

Any idiot knows you don't feed the birds

Super Khaki futuristic, extra baggy dockers

Who's your nanny?

Your Jedi mind tricks won't work on me. I'm wearing a mind shield. (Tin foil Darth helmet)

I burp in your nostrils

Good times!! Another highlight of the evening was watching Aaron and Mandy fight over a purse full of change. Love you guys!

Welcome back to the Planet!

I cannot believe that I have taken over a week to post something new. I have had several complaints remarks about my hiatus. Sorry. I have several posts in the works......Do you want them in chronological order or not? Let me know in the comments so I know which ones I should get done.

My departure from the "real world" has been due to the Fabulous Intermountain Healing Hearts Fun Run/Walk Fundraiser that happened this weekend. I will post detail and many lovely pictures later, but lets just say It was a HUGE success. I am thrilled with how many people participated and got involved. Thank you, Thank you, thank you to everyone for your help. We could not have done it with out you!!!!! We had many generous contributions, the t-shirts looked so amazing...and Heavenly Father blessed us with the perfect weather! I devoted many hours and my blood, sweat and tears into this event. I'm glad it was appreciated. Thank you all!
