Playing Catch Up

Well, the order in in. He had 462 preregistrations. Whew!! That is a lot. I ended up ordering over 600 shirts. So if you are planning on doing same day registration, I should have shirts for 'ya! ;) Hopefully I won't have anymore multiple late late nights for a while.

It's down to the last couple of weeks to get everything together. We have a lot of really nice prizes this year. I am also looking forward to the Angel ceremony. Unfortunately we have a couple additional Angels to remember this yea
r. It is going to be very touching. I know that Carolyn has been working very hard on it.

So, we went camping last weekend. I haven't seen my kids that dirty in a long time. It was a nice trip. We got rained on a bit during the night, but we stayed dry. Myra discovered how to climb out of her port a crib. Blast. Now life will get real interesting when we travel. I hope she doesn't start attempting to climb out of her crib. I'm not ready to transition her to a bed. Not sure how to go about that when she shares a room....

On our trip, there was a fire on a neighboring hill. When the wind shifted, we got to enjoy all the ash. It fell on us for several hours. We had some excellent fire wood - made cream puffs over the fire (yummy!!) and enjoyed relaxing. I got to catch up on some reading I wanted to do. It was a lot warmer than I had expected it to be. The mosquitoes weren't bad. I must say I love the new OFF! clip on repellent. If you haven't tried it, it is wonderful. Especially if you don't want to smell like repellent for the next week. They can clip on a person, stroller, chair.. you name it. There are some good coupons going around.
I think that I am still putting things away from camping. It's a mess.

Last night I was able to have a much needed girls night out. Man, it was so great to just shop, browse, eat See's Chocolate and have a good time. We went to the mall, I started some Christmas shopping and we went to dinner. Food was so good and filling. We went to the new Iggy's. Yummy. I think it helped us all relax and de-stress. Thanks girls! You are the best. Thank you for listening to all my craziness!

Tonight is Desert Star!! Aaron and Mandy are having their little girl on Tuesday (c-section) so we were able to squeeze in this show before she comes. That way they get a long break and we don't go again until the Christmas show, the week before Christmas. Hope your lives aren't as hectic as mine right now!

Holy Heart Walk, Batman!!

I haven't posted about camp. It was great, despite the rain. We all had a good time, even if the mattresses were way uncomfortable. I learned a lot at the symposium.

I have just been so busy getting ready for the Heart Walk. There are only a couple more days to pre-register. so get them in!!!!

We are going to have a great time this year. Lots of great prizes, good company - and I know the Angel Ceremony is going to be so sweet. I'm glad that I have something to do every year to remember Elaine. Something with more people than my immediate family. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve and get the event put together. I hope you all come and enjoy it! We've been working our tails off!!

9 years ago today

I married the man of my dreams. It has been an eventful 9 years. We have lived in two states, 4 apartments, one house. 3 burial plots, 5 cars, 1 headstone, a couple of pets (7 if you count the butterflies) 4 kids, 6 jobs (I think I counted that right), school. We've had some great times, and laughs, and also a lot of pain and shed many, many tears. We've been able to attend many weddings and see other's happily married, and we've also had to endure much loss. We've been to a lot of funerals. Our marriage has not been "easy".

We have had (and still have) a lot of hard things to sort through. Burring a child changes you. We are not the same people that we were when we married. We were smacked in the face with "reality" so to speak. It is not "normal" for one to own burial plots as their first real estate, but we did.

I have come to love Darin more and more as the years have gone by. I know I appreciate him a lot more, and try not to take him for granted. Sometimes life gets in the way, we get so busy with the day to day and it is always nice to reflect back to why we fell in love. I love you! Happy Anniversary!!!

We did a lot of fun things in July. Here are a bunch of pictures. We started out with the 4th. Here are some cute pictures of my kids and the Torsak kids with the fireworks. There maybe an Andrew and Marvel in them too. We swam and ate. Festivities wouldn't be complete without injury and fights....

On the 24th of July, we kept with tradition and migrated down to Beaver. We got there in perfect time for the parade.

This is my favorite picture of all time. Myra, showing respect for our country as the flag is paraded down the street. This is what it is all about folks! I know many an adult who can learn much from her tiny example!

We were also able to celebrate my Grandfather's 80th birthday. We had a nice lunch at my Aunt Susan's. There were quite a few people there (approx. 50). No, I didn't know everyone. A lot of my dad's cousins. Renee put together a wonderful slide show about my grandpa's life. It had great pictures and music. Good Job Renee. If I figure out how to share it on here, I'll let you know. The younger kids had a lot of fun playing in the yard on the play equipment. Here is a picture of Jonathan and Ashton climbing.

My grandfather's two living siblings were also in attendance. My Grandpa is the youngest of 6. Here he is with his sisters.

I love this picture of grandpa because I think it portraits him to a T. He may be 80, but look at that childish grin! He still loves to tease and play pranks on everyone. Everyone was asked to write down a favorite memory of Grandpa. There were some doozies!!! I think he got into a lot of trouble as a kid - not trouble, but mischief and has never out grown it. I bet that's the secret to growing old - stay young at heart. Happy Birthday, Grandpa! We love you!!
