Floppy Ears

For some unexplainable reason, my son has a strong fear of people/creatures with what he calls "Floppy Ears". It has been this way for as long as I can remember. It doesn't matter if the thing is a cartoon, or seems more life like. It doesn't matter if it is a good guy or a bad him they are all frightening.

Sloth from "The Goonie's"

Last night he woke up bawling and stressed out because he had a nightmare about Yoda and Dobby. He can never get Dobby's name right, and calls him Roddy - but that's another story. He was also obsessing about the fact that to him, they are both green. I don't know any of the particulars about his dream, but he sure was worried about it.
Thimbletack from the book/movie Spiderwick

Ashton really enjoyed the books The Spiderwick Chronicles. He would sit and listen for hours, which for a small boy full of energy never happens is unusual. Even when reading the books (there are drawings) he didn't like the Brownie.
Yoda from "Star Wars"

Maybe the thing that floors me about my child, is the fact that these little, mostly harmless, imaginary beings are scary and cause intense fear, but watching things like Indiana Jones, Transformers and Spiderman don't give him a moments cause to be scared.
Dobby from "Harry Potter"
