Last week was a sad day for many, as family said farewell to a great man and a beloved surgeon. Dr. Hawkin's operated on Elaine for her Glenn and her Fontan. He saved many lives and will be greatly missed and morned. If you are interested in his obituary, you can read it here. I couldn't find a picture of Dr. Hawkins and Elaine, but here is one of her recovering from her Fontan in 2003. Thank you, Dr. Hawkins, for giving me as much time as I could have with my girl... for now. RIP

While I was on spring break this year I got a taste of what it must be like to have a sister. I had a really good time hanging out with my sister - in - law, Renee. It was great to go on an unplanned shopping excursion. Without kids (that doesn't happen too much for me). I had a great time trying on clothes, helping her find some outstanding outfits. It was just something that I've never really had.
I have been blessed with amazing friends, and they are my sanity, but it seems like it's different with sisters. Swapping clothes, doing each other's hair and make up - you get the picture. When I hear people talk about all the things they do with their sisters, and what a bond they have, I'm envious.
Renee was also able to accompany us to the Charles M. Schulz Museum that week, and also to the beach. I really enjoyed our conversations, her help with the kids. As I was reflecting/meditating/staving off the boredom of driving home, I thought, WOW. This must be what it's like to have a sister. Thanks, Renee for being the sister I needed. :)

While in California for spring break, we went to Healdsburg to visit Darin's dad. We also spent some time at a park there. Here are a few of the cute pictures.

While we were in California for Spring break, we of course made a trip out to the beach. It was overcast, but not windy. Woo Hoo. The water is always cold in Northern California,
but the kids still had fun in the water. We were lucky that Renee could come with us. It's so peaceful and beautiful there. Vaughn wasn't too impressed because there wasn't a lot he could do. He tried eating the sad, but that grossed him out.
The kids got really wet, dug in the sad a lot and wandered around. There weren't too many people around. It was a weekday morning after all. I miss it already!
I was sad to see that South Salmon Creek was closed due to State budget cuts.

“Cleaning and scrubbing can wait for tomorrow,
For babies grow up, I’ve learned, to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust, go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby, and babies don’t keep.”
I pulled this quote up for a friend and thought I'd share. I love it. This is why my house is messy! ;)
