Books....on tape

Our family recently drove to California to visit some family and friends.  Without counting stops it is a 12 hour drive.  With 4 little people in the car (who can never seem to coordinate bladders) we end up making way too many stops.  To help make the drive more bearable, we like to listen to books on tape.  I know many of you are probably laughing at this....why aren't you all watching movies and playing games on electronic devises?  Besides the fact it is a pain to keep everything charged, too many of us easily get car sick.  Watching things makes that worse.  Listening however, seems to be just dandy.

this trip we decided to get a few sets from the library to take.  We listened to the Sisters Grimm by Michael Buckley, Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, The Willoughby's by Lois Lowry and started Wonder by RJ Palacio.  Violet also listened to The book without words by Avi.  That seems like a lot of books, but it hardly seemed like it.  We also started Dorothy and the Wizard, but the language was a little rough so we switched it up for the littler kids.  So, if you are in need of things to do as a family on long trips, check out your local library's collection.

Take a look, it's in a book, a Reading Rainbow.  Ha!  I couldn't help my self!

Are they obsolete?

I haven't posted anything on my blog for over a year.  Have blogs become obsolete?
